So you build your basic wardrobe | Oscar Jacobson
Wardrobe Essentials
Wardrobe essentials consists of sustainable, timeless and multi-faceted pieces of clothing. The garments should be of good quality, withstand frequent use and last for a long time. That is why it is important to spend a little extra money on and give some extra thought to garments like these. To inspire you, we have made a selection, a recommendation, of what should be a part of your wardrobe essentials.
JEANS
Jeans have an obvious place in every man's wardrobe. You will be able to wear a straight model in a dark wash for many different occasions and for a long time. We do, however, recommend you expanding your wardrobe to four pairs of jeans in different washes. Blue and black for more formal occasions. A pair of light blue jeans and a pair white jeans for personality and variation.
SUIT
A well-fitting suit is the most important of all. Have a tailor adjust it so that it fits just perfect. Small adjustments of sleeve length, the length of the trousers and the width of the waist are crucial for whether your suit will look good on you.
Even if you don't wear a suit every day, it is important to have one available for special occasions. You should have at least one dark blue, but also a grey one.
A nice suit should be made from wool and it should be plain coloured.
BLAZER
A blue or grey blazer is a necessity in your wardrobe. It is a timeless garment, perfect for a meeting, a party or some other special occasion. It also goes perfectly with jeans for a more dressed-up vibe to your everyday life.
KNITWEAR AND HALF-ZIP
Knitwear and Half-zip sweaters are useful the whole year around. During colder seasons, you can wear them as a warming layer over a shirt or underneath a blazer, and during the spring and summer, you can wear them just the way they are.
Plain-coloured sweaters in traditional colours such as dark blue, grey and beige cover most needs. They are timeless, easy to match with other garments and easy to wear to many different events.
CHINOS
A coat that is both stylish and functional could be used for both everyday and formal occasions. It can be worn together with a sweatshirt and jeans for a more casual look or with a blazer and a shirt for a more dressed-up look. Our coat Johnsson is wind-proof and water-resistant, which makes it perfect for rainy spring and autumn days.
FUNCTIONAL JACKET
A coat that is both stylish and functional could be used for both everyday and formal occasions. It can be worn together with a sweatshirt and jeans for a more casual look or with a blazer and a shirt for a more dressed-up look. Our coat Johnsson is wind-proof and water-resistant, which makes it perfect for rainy spring and autumn days.
THE BUSINESS SHIRT
Next to the suit, the business shirt is the most important garment in the wardrobe. A good shirt changes both how you look and how you feel. Go for a high-quality shirt in a classic colour such as white or light blue. The right shirt is an investment that will pay off for years to come.
THE OXFORD SHIRT
An Oxford shirt is a timeless classic fitting for many different occasions. It is just as fitting for everyday life as it is for more formal events. Start off with classic colours such as white, light blue and a white and blue striped shirt, but feel free to complement your wardrobe with more colours according to need and taste.
