A perfectly tied bow tie transforms formal attire into something truly extraordinary. Originating from Croatian soldiers in the 17th century, the bow tie quickly became a symbol of elegance when it gained popularity among the French aristocracy. By the 20th century, it was famously worn by icons like Winston Churchill and Fred Astaire, cementing its status as a timeless and classic accessory.

STEP 1: Adjust the bow tie so that one end is slightly longer than the other. The shorter end should stop around the middle of the first curve of the untied bow tie.

STEP 2: Place the longer end over the shorter one, then pull it up through the neck loop to create a simple knot. Tighten the knot slightly so it sits securely against the neck.

STEP 3: Fold the shorter end into a bow shape. The thicker, folded edge should face away from your body. This bow will form the base of your bow tie.

STEP 4: Allow the longer end to fall straight down over the bow you just created, aligning it with the buttons of your shirt.

STEP 6: Fold the longer end into a second bow. Position this bow horizontally behind the first one and feed its folded edge through the small loop behind the knot.

STEP 7: Gently pull the bow through the loop, being careful not to pull too hard. Adjust the shape of the bow tie by pulling on the loops until you achieve the desired balance and symmetry. Let it remain slightly uneven to retain a natural, hand-tied look.

STEP 8: Tighten the bow tie by pulling the double layers or loosen it by pulling the single layers. Ensure the bow tie is centered and secure.
