TRANSITIONAL TAILORING WITH JONATHAN HARBOE
TRANSITIONAL TAILORING WITH JONATHAN HARBOE
Do you know Jonathan Harboe? Everyone in the Copenhagen district called Frederiksberg does. Jonathan is a well-known Danish actor, born, raised and still based in Frederiksberg. He is currently working with a production company on his directorial debut of a short film he has written. When we walked his beloved streets together, we frequently paused to chat and wave at his friends. We wanted to capture Jonathan in transition, coming from vacation summer style and back to work. The two-sided feeling we all recognize, from inspiring lazy summer days to going into autumn character.

Jonathan, how do you spend your summers?
I’m usually travelling during summer. Been going to Juan Les Pins/Antibes for the past 20 years, so that feels like home and summer to me. Rosé, beers, concerts, runs and road trips.
What do you wear in the summertime and which qualities do you prefer?
I tend to wear lots of color during summer. Suit pants with a vintage short-sleeved shirt, white jeans and a linen shirt etc. Or if it’s Italy, I like to wear a double-breasted suit and loafers. I never travel without two pairs of loafers and two suits. It’s easy to mix up with jeans and dress it down. The better the quality, the better you feel
What does Frederiksberg mean to you?
It’s home. I grew up here. Every street, every corner, every turn I take here has a memory. Good and bad. So it has my heart.
What are your plans for autumn?
I’m directing my first short film that I’ve been working on in the shadows since 22’.
What´s your short movie about?
It’s rooted in a very personal story, so I don’t wanna give out too much. What I went through is still a secret to many, but I hope it will bring out lots of vitality and joy. And something to think about in one’s own life too.
And when can we see it?
I’ll have a small screening in Copenhagen for colleagues, friends and family and then after that, I hope it will have a good festival run. But it’ll be online sometime next year.
What will you wear at the screening?
I’m thinking a black suit with a pair of loafers. Something oversized yet tailored. Think Goodfellas.
What would you recommend when coming to Copenhagen?
Rent a bicycle or walk. Explore the different neighbourhoods. It’s a small city, so it’s easy to get around. As soon as you take a turn off a main street, that’s where all the original small coffee shops, bars and bookstores are.
Do you have anything to share?
Depends on the season, but you can find me with a pint at one of the bars at Frederiksberg - I’ll be happy to help!
Restaurants? Bars? Coffee Shops? Galleries?
I´m not a big food guy, so I can´t help you with the restaurant part. But bars and museums are my specialties. Check out Café Intime on Frederiksberg and Bobi Bar in the center. When you're hungover go to SMK Museum, Gammel Strand Museum or hit the small side park beside Frederiksberg Have. It's called Haveselskabets Haver.
